Plasma screens are considered to offer a higher quality picture over LCD technology, particularly for displaying video / moving images - they produce a bright image and have wider viewing angles. However, they use more power than LCD Screens and are considered to have a shorter 'life span'.

LCD technology is ideally used in environments where there is a demand for a 24/7 application or for displaying data (e.g. in digital-signage applications). In a business environment, traditional widescreen televisions (CRT and LCD) remain popular for displaying 24-hour televised news channels (available via a Freeview set-top box)
